Engagement Season with E.B. Horn

I teamed up with E.B. Horn to round up my favorite engagement ring styles and the coolest places to shoot engagement photos in Boston. If you’re in the market for either, read on.

  1. Eternity Bands: I may be biased here (my engagement ring is an eternity band), but I love the novelty of this look. The initial thought of not having a single stone, I admit, is a bit jarring. But, you might just find that this is the perfect style for you. It’s sporty, trendy, yet undeniably classic. Pair it with a simple gold wedding band and you’ve got the ultimate combination of old world and new.
  2. Non-Diamond Stones: Ok, ok, we know this is nothing new. Diana rocked possibly the most famous non-diamond engagement ring, but even then, the style never really went completely mainstream. Plus, I love how this look manifests as a family heirloom piece, even if it’s not.
  3. Oval-Shaped Stones: If you want something traditional, yet a bit unconventional, an oval stone is a great choice for you. The stone shape came about in the 1960s, when a Russian diamond cutter tweaked and elongated the traditional round brilliant shape. Plus, with 56-58 facets, they’re optimized for maximum sparkle. Yes, please.
  4. Gold Accents: Gold is making a comeback in a major way. It’s softer and more subtle than the more popular platinum or white gold styles, but it makes a statement. I also love the look of mixed metals for a more modern feel.

Stop by E.B. Horn in downtown crossing to try on these styles and more!

The Boston Public Library: for the trendy, yet classic couple. Go during a weekday when tourists and visitors are more sparse.  boston_engagement_shoot_locationsAcorn Street: for the quintessential Boston couple. This Beacon Hill gem was dubbed America’s Most Beautiful Street for good reason. In the summer, go between 1:00 and 2:00 PM for optimal lighting. You might run into a slew of photographers, but it’s worth the wait.  boston_engagement_shoot_locationsProvidence Street: for the Instagram couple. This street is chock-full of ‘Gram-friendly walls, including black, white, red, gray, graffiti, and traditional brick. Move from wall to wall to get an amalgamation of backgrounds for your shoot! Go during the week around 12:00 PM for optimal light and less parked cars.
boston_engagement_shoot_locationsThe Boston Public Garden: for the romance-loving couple. This is the closest thing to an outdoor botanical garden within Boston proper. You’ll be surrounded by picnic-ing lovers, English roses, and swan boats; a perfect setting for you to capture your mushy, er, love, for one another.
The Verb Hotel: for the sports-loving, artsy couple. This colorful Fenway hotspot, nestled directly behind the ballpark itself, is one of Boston’s most unique photo ops. Head out to the pool area where you’ll find an urban oasis filled with white brick, string lights, and pops of color. Bonus: pretty much any shot you take is guaranteed to feature the Green Monster.
